Open Science as a concept and a practice is a dynamic method of sharing information increasingly favored by scholarly journals and extramural funding agencies. Techniques and resources to utilize open science as a researcher or consumer of science have many layers and variations. Nick Bowman, based on his expertise in open science practices as an author, editor, researcher, and administrator, will share the origins and foundational aspects of the Open Science movement, demonstrating how he implements and utilizes it in his own research, and reviewing best practices for others engaging with open science.


Nick Bowman is an Associate Professor from the Newhouse School. He teaches courses on the user experience of immersive and interactive media and advises student research projects. His research is broadly focused on understanding cognitive, emotional, physical and social demands of interactive media content.
